2010 – 2019

During this decade, the school continued to build on the past while looking to the future. The new Enterprise building for Year 9, and renovated spaces for Year 11 and Years 7 and 8, enhanced group learning in worthwhile ways, while students from all year levels had opportunities to engage in many learning experiences outside the classroom. Senior students took on leadership roles with commitment and enthusiasm and received strong support from staff.

    • The musical Singing in the Rain was staged.
    • Students were selected to go to Nepal as part of The World Challenge Expedition.
    • Ms Jill Laughlin commenced as Principal.
  • 2011
    • The Performing Arts Festival was a celebration of st
    • The SRC ran a Respect and Responsibility Week to address core values.
    • The school community celebrated the 70th A symphonic work was commissioned and performed. It incorporates “School of our youth”.
  • 2012
    • Anzac Day included reflections from students who had visited Gallipoli and the Western front
    • Chinese teachers from Suzhou visited the school and planned exchange visits.
    • The Battle of the Bands was staged by Year 12 students..
  • 2013
    • The Enterprise Centre was opened and would become “home” for Year 9.
    • Year 7 students participated in Peer Support sessions with Year 10 students.
    • A student forum was led by the Year 12 captains and SRC presidents.
    • The Basketball Courts were completed and ready for use.
  • 2014
    • Students were selected for trips to France or Greece and Italy.
    • The musical Rent, with its’ challenging themes, was staged.
  • 2015
    • The 2014 High Achievers came back to share tips and advice with Year 12.
    • Six Year 9 students spent Term 2 at the Alpine School for Student Leadership.
  • 2016
    • Students travelled to France, China and Vietnam as part of their studies.
    • The musical Aida was staged.
    • The school celebrated its 75th anniversary with various activities including “Run for the Oval”. Over 100 ex-students attended a Gala Dinner at Wattle Park Chalet.
    • The school received $3.5 million to improve the quality of learning spaces.
  • 2017
    • Ex-student and Carlton mid-fielder Tilly Lucas Rodd opened the new oval.
    • Churchill won the House Chorals.
    • The Cabaret Night at Spotted Mallard was sold out.
  • 2018
    • In February the highest achieving Year 12 students from 2017 attended the school assembly. 17 students received ATARs over 95.
    • The school musical, Sweeney Todd, was performed in May.
    • Emeritus Professor Kwong Lee Dow AO AM (Class of ’54) spoke at the Ex-Students luncheon and met 4 ex-CHS recipients of Kwong Lee Dow scholarships.
    • Alumni Emmanuel Skoutas (class of ’80) was appointed Assistant Principal.
  • 2019
    • The school celebrated International Harmony Day with numerous activities organised by student leaders.
    • Over 30 students applied for the position of Principal for the Day and 6 were chosen to take on the role.
    • Year 11 moved into their renovated learning space in C building.
    • In Term 4 the renovated D building was opened for Years 7 and 8
