Dannii Minogue was born in Melbourne in 1971. She received her early education at Camberwell Central School before her secondary years at CHS from 1984 to 1989.

Dannii has been performing since she was 7. Her acting talent was recognised early when she made juvenile appearances on such shows as Skyways and The Sullivan’s. As a singer and all-round entertainer, she soon became a popular member of the Young Talent Time team from 1984 to 1988, while she was still at school.

With a solid grounding in performing, she combined a dramatic role in the television series Home and Away while at the same time embarking on a highly successful singing career.

As a singer, Dannii has sold over seven million records worldwide. In the genre of dance singles, she became the best-performing artist on the UK Dance Chart where she achieved no less than thirteen number one singles. She has had twelve Top 30 singles in Australia and nine UK Top10 singles. Her hits include Love and Kisses, This Is It and Baby Love.

On this base she was able to build a career in live musical theatre where she became a cast member of Grease in 1997 and Notre-Dame de Paris in 1999. Her other theatrical roles have included The Vagina Monologues and Macbeth, both in 2000. However, her career in popular music was not neglected. In 1999 she recorded her most successful hit song All I Wanna Do, and in 2003 she recorded her most successful album Neon Lights.

Dannii has graced the covers of numerous popular magazines such as Vogue, Glamour, Entertainment Weekly and Cosmopolitan.

From 2007, Dannii has continued her career, nurturing the talent in other artists as a judge on shows such as Australia’s Got Talent, The X-Factor UK and Australia, Britain & Ireland’s Next Top Model, Let It Shine and The Masked Singer Australia. In 2010 her autobiography My Story was published.

In recognition of her outstanding international career, and her major contribution to the entertainment industry, Dannii was awarded the honorary degree, Doctor of Media, from Southampton Solent University, for her services to the entertainment industry over the last 37 years. Dannii now lives in London, but as a self-described ‘Melbourne girl’, she makes frequent visits to her hometown. Updated 2020
